The Daniel J. Corfield Memorial Scholarship

Criteria: 3.0 GPA, English, Must have completed at least 2 English courses and received an A in each course, Must submit either one prose (500 to 1,000 words) or 4-6 poems for judging.

Professor Dan Corfield was a beloved colleague in the English Department and Writing Center for several years. Respected by students and faculty alike, Dan’s kind heart and creative spirit helped to make our college the welcoming institution that it is, and his legacy is one of class and selflessness. Dan loved to write, he wrote daily and his poems and short stories have been published. This scholarship-which will be awarded to a student dedicated to the art and craft of Creative Writing-seeks to ensure that the dignity and professionalism with which Dan carried himself will be carried forth in the years ahead.
