Axel Family Scholarship

Must be a fine arts Student at GWC: Painting, Drawing, or sculpture.
Applicants must submit a porfolio of their work for review by three GWC Fine Arts instructors. Applicants must have plans to transfer to a 4-year university with the intention of continuing in the arts.

Jane Axel, a devoted artist, and GWC student for many years, was awarded Artist of the Year for Huntington Beach in 2007. She has exhibited her work in many local galleries. Her sensitivity, originality, open-mindedness, and free spirit were expressed in the execution of her work. Jane drew upon her extensive travels and life experiences for creative and innovative expression. During her long productive life, she never lost her love for the arts and others. This scholarship was established by her immediate family members, mentors, and artist friends.
