John and Sheila Wordes Scholarship

Post 911 Veteran continuing at GWC; 2.5 GPA; must submit Discharge Papers (DD-214) with the application; must be enrolled in at least 6 units in Spring

John Wordes is a charter faculty member of Golden West College and began his campus career as Fine and Applied Arts Division chairman. During his campus career, he has been the Associate Dean of Community Services, Dean of the Fine and Performing Arts Division, and the Dean of the Business and Information Systems Division. This scholarship was established upon his retirement, by his fellow colleagues for 30 years of service to the college. With his love of the Academic environment and Golden West College, he continued to work part-time for another twenty years, on Golden West College Foundation events: Commencement Ceremony, Scholarship and Awards Ceremony, GALA Fundraiser, Chefs 4 Scholarships. He retired after 50 years of service to GWC.
