American Association of University Women (AAUW) - Westminster/Fountain Valley/Huntington Beach – Shirley Pyle Memorial Scholarship

Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA; Available to any student that is going into the teaching profession. Must need financial assistance.

Shirley Pyle started her college education once her children were in school. She attended Long Beach City College and California State University, Long Beach, obtaining her Master’s Degree in Education. The next twenty-five years she spent in education as a teacher, an administrator, and a mentor. Shirley was a longtime member of the American Association of University Women – Westminster/Fountain Valley/Huntington Beach and the Golden West College Patrons. She was instrumental in establishing AAUW scholarships to assist students returning to college to complete their lifetime goals. The American Association of University Women/Westminster/Fountain Valley/Huntington Beach has established this scholarship to honor Shirley’s memory and to carry on her goal of providing scholarship funds for deserving students.
