Robert J. McCausland, Norman E. Rich, And Michael & Teresa Smith - Meighan Memorial Music Scholarship

Music major with a 2.5 GPA. must have completed 12 units at Golden West College and enroll in a minimum of 12 units at GWC or State College or University in the Fall.

This scholarship is a blend of the Robert J. McCausland, Norman E. Rich, and Michael & Teresa Smith-Meighan Memorial Scholarships, and is given to a worthy GWC student. Connie McCausland established this scholarship in memory of her husband, Robert. Norm was an Associate Dean at GWC, who taught advanced sciences and was instrumental in establishing a biological science laboratory, one of the most comprehensive in the community college system. The scholarship was established in Norm’s memory by his family and friends. Mike and Teri were a young married couple with unusual musical talent who were involved with various campus music activities. The couple was killed in an automobile accident in Iran where they had gone to teach for the summer of 1976. This scholarship for music students is a memorial to a couple that influenced so many people during their short lives.
