Norma Brandel Gibbs Scholarship

3.0 GPA or better; women or men who are seeking to redirect their life as returning students. Priority will be given to single parents.
Norma Brandel Gibbs, the daughter of Swedish immigrant parents who stressed the importance of education, has had a lifelong interest in helping those who need an extra boost. Scholarships enabled her to realize the fulfillment of her dream – becoming a professor. Retired from California State University, Long Beach and Golden West College, she also enjoyed serving her community as Mayor of both Seal Beach and Huntington Beach. Norma’s motto: “You can fly but that cocoon has to go!”
