Lowell E. Karre Memorial Scholarship
Lowell Karre was a professor of Physical Sciences at Golden West College. His hard-working and caring style motivated many students to pursue their goals. In fact, the anonymous donor to this scholarship was a student of Professor Karre. This individual was motivated to obtain a degree in Chemistry. Lowell worked in industry after graduating from the University of Buffalo and Canisuis College. He worked at Gypsum Company, Hughes Aircraft Company and Northrop Company. He began teaching at Golden West College in 1973 and continued until his retirement in 1998. This scholarship is designed for students to continue their education as Chemistry majors.
SPECIAL APPLICATION REQUIRED – PICK UP AT THE MATH/SCIENCES DIVISION OFFICE. A two-year scholarship for outstanding, highly motivated science students to be given the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree in science-related majors at four-year universities throughout California. Students are chosen by the Board of Selection made up of faculty members from the GWC Chemistry Department.
